11 April - 23 May 2021

The Season of Eastertide is part of the Christian calendar, remembering the days between Christ’s Resurrection, on Easter, and until the day of Pentecost, which celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Christian Church. The fifty days of Eastertide includes the first forty days of Christ’s resurrection appearances, the day of His Ascension to heaven and the following ten days of prayerful waiting for the Holy Spirit by the disciples. Eastertide is NOT a pagan festival. It is based on Acts 1:3, “After His suffering, He presented Himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.” The liturgical colour of this season is white, emphasizing the purity which the risen Christ gives to all who trust in Him.
